How to Maintain Your Deck for Longevity

A deck is a major investment that adds value and enjoyment to your home. Whether you have natural cedar or composite decking, regular maintenance is key to preserving its beauty and structural integrity.

Cleaning

Sweep your deck regularly to prevent debris from trapping moisture. For a deeper clean, use a specialized deck cleaner and a soft-bristle brush. Avoid high-pressure power washing, which can damage wood fibers.

Sealing (For Wood Decks)

We recommend staining and sealing your cedar deck every 2-3 years. This protects the wood from UV rays and moisture, preventing graying and rot.

Inspecting

Check for loose boards, protruding nails, or wobbly railings at the start of every season. Tightening a few screws now can prevent accidents later.

Thinking about a new deck? We build custom decks using top-tier materials like Trex and premium cedar.
